New Plant Pass Partner: Manawatū District Council

With its strong understanding of local biosecurity challenges, new Plant Pass Partner Manawatū District Council (MDC) can play a key role in raising awareness, building biosecurity risk management capability and protecting the district from plant pest and disease threats.

One of the Council’s strategic priorities – "an environment to be proud of" (he kāinga ka rauhītia tōna taiao) – aligns closely with the goals of the Plant Pass Partner network.

MDC is well-positioned to champion the Plant Pass programme thanks to its own Kawakawa Nursery which specialises in riparian and wetland species. The nursery is working towards joining the Plant Pass scheme.
